Lityany of Blessing for the Laying of the Foundation

Family Promise had the privilege of being a part of the “Litany of Blessing for the Laying of the Foundation” of Our Neighbors’ Village Duplex at Easley Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 25th. The duplex is a partnership between Easley Presbyterian Church, Pickens County Habitat for Humanity and Family Promise of Pickens County. Once completed the duplex along with the current Our Neighbors’ House will help provide three transitional homes for families of Family Promise programs. Family Promise has had an ongoing partnership with Easley Presbyterian for over 10 years in providing shelter for families at the Our Neighbors’ House. The continuation of our partnership with Easley Presbyterian and the new partnership with Pickens County Habitat for Humanity we will be able to multiply the needs of the homeless families with children of Pickens County.

In the words of our Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Nath Briley as he reflected on the words ofLeviticus 25:35

“I’ve been reflecting deeply on a particular Scripture lately, especially as I’ve worked with families going through difficult times. This passage from God’s Word doesn’t simply call us to help others—it calls us to help in a way that enables them to live among us. Among us! That’s a profound challenge. It’s not just about offering food or clothing; it’s about creating space, dignity, and opportunity so others can truly be part of our shared community.

Supporting those experiencing homelessness and poverty requires more than charity—it takes collaboration, compassion, and commitment. Easley Presbyterian Church has embodied this calling for years, loving their neighbors by providing homes where Family Promise can walk with families on the journey toward self-sufficiency.

Every home built by Habitat for Humanity of Pickens County is another example of this kind of collaboration—neighbors, volunteers, and partners coming together to help a family break the cycle of poverty and find a place to call home.

Family Promise of Pickens County also relies on strong partnerships—with churches, local organizations, and compassionate individuals—to guide families from homelessness to independence.  And now, with God’s help and our shared efforts, this new duplex will become a home for three families at a time—families who will not only have shelter but also the support they need to become self-sufficient.

We look forward to continuing this work together—building homes, hope, and community—so that more families can truly live among us.”

Leviticus 25:35

Now if your countryman becomes destitute and cannot support himself among you, then you are to help him as you would a foreigner or stranger, so that he can continue to live among you.
